underestimated the calorie content of meals by an average of 250 to 345 calories. The research involved photographing 102 meals prepared in a controlled environment and comparing the apps' estimates with the actual nutritional values. The apps also underestimated fat content by approximately 30 grams, although carbohydrate estimates were more consistent. These findings suggest that while the apps offer convenience, their accuracy is questionable, particularly for high-fat, low-carbohydrate meals.
