U.S. radar maker Echodyne is exploring the establishment of a manufacturing presence in Europe to meet the escalating demand for counter-drone technology. This consideration follows Norway's Kongsberg selecting Echodyne's MESA radar platform for various
air and surface applications. Echodyne's CEO, Eben Frankenberg, stated at the MSPO defense show in Kielce, Poland, that integrating their radars into Kongsberg's Protector RS4 and RS6 remote weapon stations will enhance Echodyne's visibility in European markets. These integrations aim to make existing weapon stations effective against drone threats, a capability not originally designed into them. The company opened an 86,350-square-foot manufacturing facility in Washington state in July, a $40 million investment projected to produce over 30,000 radar systems annually.
