What's Happening?
Marriott International has launched a beta version of Ask Bonvoy, an AI-powered conversational search tool, designed to enhance the user experience for Marriott Bonvoy members. This tool allows users to explore Marriott's extensive portfolio of approximately
10,000 properties across 146 countries using natural language queries. Initially available in U.S. English on Marriott.com and the Marriott Bonvoy mobile apps, Ask Bonvoy enables members to search for stays, amenities, and experiences through conversational prompts. The platform interprets these queries to provide curated results based on verified property data, including hotel features and amenities such as dining options, spa experiences, and recreational offerings. The beta phase allows users to use Ask Bonvoy alongside traditional search filters, with a full global launch anticipated later this year.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of Ask Bonvoy represents a significant advancement in how users interact with Marriott's booking platform, potentially setting a new standard for the hospitality industry. By leveraging AI technology, Marriott aims to provide a more personalized and efficient search experience, which could enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. This development is particularly important as it aligns with broader trends in the travel industry towards more personalized and technology-driven services. The ability to use natural language for searches could simplify the booking process, making it more accessible and user-friendly, thereby potentially increasing Marriott's competitive edge in the market.
What's Next?
As the beta phase progresses, Marriott plans to expand the availability of Ask Bonvoy to its nearly 283 million members and other global travelers who sign up for the program. The company is also collaborating with technology companies like Google and OpenAI to further enhance its AI capabilities. This collaboration could lead to more advanced features, such as loyalty points-based searches, which would further integrate the AI tool into Marriott's broader service offerings. The full global launch of Ask Bonvoy is expected later this year, which could significantly impact how travelers plan and book their stays.
