Hyundai Motor Group has signed an agreement to advance the Alatau City project in Kazakhstan, marking its entry into the country's largest new city development. The agreement was formalized at the first
Korea-Central Asia Business Summit on November 16, with key representatives including Suh Kang-hyun, president of planning and coordination at Hyundai Motor Group, Choi Yu-ri, chairman of Caspian Group, and Vyacheslav Kim, chairman of United Group Alatau. Alatau City, a special economic zone designated by Kazakhstan's presidential decree, spans 880 square kilometers north of Almaty. Caspian Group is spearheading urban development and local execution, while United Group Alatau is contributing its financial and digital ecosystem. This collaboration aims to establish Kazakhstan as a hub for physical artificial intelligence (AI)-based future city projects in Central Asia. Hyundai Motor Group plans to explore smart city ventures, verify commercialization potential within Alatau City, and prioritize business opportunities related to urban development and operations, particularly in the city's gate district, which connects Alatau City and Almaty.
