The World Dairy Expo (WDE) Championship Dairy Product Contest Auction, held in Madison, successfully raised a total of $48,150. This annual event, hosted by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association (WDPA), honors first, second, and third-place winners,
as well as three Grand Champions, from the contest. A significant portion of the auction proceeds is dedicated to funding scholarships for students enrolled in food and agriculture programs at various Wisconsin institutions. During the auction, winning products were sold by lot rather than by weight. Notable sales included the Cheese and Butter Grand Champion, BBQ Chip Cheese Curds from Pleasant Lane Farms Creamery LLC of Latrobe, PA, which was purchased by Excel Engineering for $1,400. The Grade A Grand Champion, 10% Vanilla Greek Yogurt from Cabot Creamery Cooperative of Waitsfield, VT, sold for $875 to Nelson-Jameson. Additionally, the Ice Cream Grand Champion, Yippee Skippee from Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream in Madison, WI, was acquired by Nelson-Jameson for $1,975.
