The Center for Global Development (CGD) has announced openings for Fellow and Senior Fellow positions within its Market Shaping Accelerator (MSA) in Washington, DC. These roles are designed for economists interested in contributing to research and policy
initiatives aimed at accelerating innovation for global public goods. The positions will focus on developing market-shaping mechanisms to incentivize innovation in areas such as global health, pandemic preparedness, climate change, and AI safety. The roles require a hybrid work arrangement, with staff expected to work from the office at least three days per week. CGD will sponsor U.S. work authorization for successful candidates, who must declare a primary residence in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia.
Why It's Important?
These positions at CGD are significant as they aim to align private incentives with social objectives, potentially leading to breakthroughs in addressing global challenges. By focusing on market-shaping mechanisms, the initiative seeks to create economic models that encourage innovation where traditional commercial incentives fall short. This could have far-reaching impacts on public policy and global development, particularly in areas that require urgent innovation, such as health and climate change. The hybrid work model also reflects a growing trend in flexible work arrangements, which can attract a diverse pool of candidates and foster a more inclusive work environment.
What's Next?
Applications for these positions are being accepted on a rolling basis, with review deadlines set for November 1, 2026, and February 1, 2027. The positions are scheduled to close on March 1, 2027.
