Venari Minerals is investigating the potential to recover strontium and magnesium alongside lithium carbonate at its Red Mountain Lithium Project in Nevada. This initiative follows metallurgical test work that identified these elements in the leach circuit.
Strontium is classified as a Strategic Material by the US Department of War due to its use in tracer ordnance and flares. The US currently relies entirely on imports for its strontium supply, and the National Defense Authorization Act for the Fiscal Year 2023 mandates domestic sourcing of defense-related chemicals, including strontium compounds, by 2028. Magnesium, holding US Department of Energy Critical Mineral status, is primarily imported from China. Venari Minerals CEO Matthew Healy emphasized the priority of determining the economic viability of recovering these byproducts, which could enhance project economics and diversify revenue streams without altering the project's core focus.

An updated inferred mineral resource estimate is expected in the third quarter of 2026, with a Scoping Study incorporating byproduct options targeted for completion in the first quarter of 2027. These steps are crucial for determining the project's future direction and potential economic impact.
