Philippine Airlines has expanded its commitment to the Airbus A350-1000, signing a memorandum of understanding for nine additional aircraft, with purchase rights for five more. This decision follows the airline's indicative order for Boeing 787-10s at the Farnborough
Airshow. The A350-1000s, along with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, are intended to meet the airline's future medium- and long-haul needs, replacing its A330 and 777 fleets. Philippine Airlines President Richard Nuttall stated that the decision to forego the A330neo was based on the ability to carry more passengers and cargo, aligning with the country's growing demand.
