What's Happening?
Kolibri Global Energy is expanding its drilling strategy in Oklahoma's Tishomingo field by targeting additional reservoir benches beyond the Lower Caney formation. The company plans to evaluate the False Caney, Upper Caney, T-zone, and Sycamore intervals
using modified completion techniques to assess their commercial viability. As part of this strategy, Kolibri has added a fourth well, the Lovina 5-8-1H, to its 2026 drilling program, targeting the False Caney with a two-mile lateral. The Upper Caney is slated for testing in late 2026 or early 2027, while the T-zone and Sycamore remain future evaluation candidates. Kolibri is also drilling three previously announced Clifton Mack wells, with the first well drilled and cased after encountering unexpected geologic conditions. Lessons from this have been applied to the second and third wells, which are being batch drilled and are expected to be completed in the third quarter.
Why It's Important?
Kolibri's expansion in the Tishomingo field could significantly increase its drilling inventory and reserves, potentially leading to long-term production growth. The company's strategy to explore multiple reservoir benches aims to unlock new drilling locations, enhancing its operational outlook. This development is crucial for Kolibri as it seeks to capitalize on the potential of the Tishomingo field, which could bolster its position in the energy sector. The success of these additional benches could lead to increased drilling activity and economic benefits for the region, including job creation and increased local investment. Moreover, the revised drilling program reflects higher costs, indicating a substantial commitment to exploring these new opportunities.
What's Next?
Kolibri plans to continue its drilling activities in the Tishomingo field, with the completion of the Clifton Mack wells scheduled for the third quarter. The company will also test the Upper Caney in late 2026 or early 2027, with the T-zone and Sycamore as future evaluation targets. If successful, these efforts could lead to a significant increase in Kolibri's drilling locations and production capacity. The company will likely monitor the results closely to determine the commercial viability of these new benches, which could influence future drilling strategies and investment decisions.
