Oliver Bearman, a Haas F1 test driver and Ferrari Academy driver, has revealed that Lewis Hamilton rarely uses the simulator for race weekend preparation. Bearman noted that Hamilton has previously stated he would 'back away' from the Ferrari simulator due
to it leading him in incorrect setup directions. Bearman also highlighted the significant disparity in simulator access for Haas drivers compared to Ferrari. While Ferrari's simulator operates eight days a week, Haas drivers, including Bearman and Esteban Ocon, are limited to just one day a month on the Ferrari simulator in Maranello. Furthermore, half of this limited time is spent reprogramming the software to reflect their VF-26 car before they can even begin working on setup. Haas is in the process of building its own simulator at its Banbury factory, but Bearman indicated it is 'a long way off' being operational, particularly regarding tire and vehicle modeling.
