What's Happening?
The Forney Library, located in the historic Hôtel de Sens in Paris, will offer free public tours during the 2026 Heritage Days on September 19 and 20. This event allows visitors to explore the architectural and historical significance of the late 15th-century
mansion, which is a listed historic monument. The Hôtel de Sens, once a residence for the Archbishops of Sens, underwent extensive restoration after being acquired by the city in 1911. Since 1961, it has housed the Forney Library, which focuses on the fine arts.
Why It's Important?
Heritage Days provide a unique opportunity for the public to engage with cultural and historical sites that are not always accessible. The event at the Forney Library highlights the importance of preserving historical architecture and making cultural heritage accessible to a wider audience. It also underscores the role of public institutions in promoting cultural education and appreciation. By opening its doors, the Forney Library fosters a deeper understanding of Paris's rich history and architectural legacy.
