What's Happening?
Unico Silver has announced significant high-grade assay results from its ongoing drilling program at the Joaquin Project in Santa Cruz, Argentina. The company has completed assays from 46 drill holes covering 6,631 meters, revealing strong gold-silver
intercepts at the La Morocha SE, Breccia Puntudo, and La Negra SE prospects. Notably, extensional drilling at La Morocha SE returned 52.3 meters at 378 grams per tonne silver equivalent, including a standout 8.5 meters at 1,831 grams per tonne silver equivalent. These results, located outside the current resource estimate area, suggest that gold grades strengthen at depth. Infill drilling at Breccia Puntudo confirmed gold mineralization, supporting an upgrade of the resource estimate from inferred to indicated. The company is advancing its Prefeasibility Study (PFS) workstreams, including geotechnical drilling and environmental studies, with plans to recommence exploration drilling in Q3 2026.
Why It's Important?
The high-grade results from Unico Silver's drilling program are significant as they indicate potential for resource growth at the Joaquin Project. This could enhance the project's economic viability and attract further investment. The confirmation of high-grade mineralization close to the surface at Breccia Puntudo and the strengthening of grades at depth at La Morocha SE are particularly promising for future resource expansion. These developments could position Unico Silver to increase its resource base, potentially leading to a more robust Prefeasibility Study and subsequent project development. The ongoing exploration and positive results may also boost investor confidence and support the company's strategic objectives in the region.
What's Next?
Unico Silver plans to continue its exploration efforts with further drilling scheduled to recommence in Q3 2026. The company is also progressing with its Prefeasibility Study, which includes geotechnical and environmental studies. The results from these activities will be crucial in determining the next steps for the Joaquin Project. Additionally, Unico Silver's participation in the upcoming Noosa Mining Conference could provide an opportunity to showcase its progress and attract potential investors or partners. The continued exploration and study efforts aim to expand the resource base and demonstrate growth potential beyond the maiden PFS expected in late Q3 2026.
