What's Happening?
Sixteen high school graduates from Central Louisiana and Corrigan, Texas, have signed job offers with RoyOMartin through the company's WoodWorks and Girls Can Too! workforce development programs. These programs are designed to prepare students for careers
in manufacturing by providing specialized training and mentorship. Participants receive a paid scholarship to attend Central Louisiana Technical Community College for six weeks, where they enhance their manufacturing knowledge and workplace safety skills, earning an OSHA 10 certification. Upon completion, they will begin their careers at RoyOMartin manufacturing facilities in Louisiana and Texas. The programs aim to connect students with career opportunities and have been instrumental in workforce development for nearly two decades.
Why It's Important?
The initiative by RoyOMartin highlights the importance of workforce development programs in bridging the gap between education and employment, particularly in the manufacturing sector. By investing in young talent, the company not only addresses its workforce needs but also contributes to the economic development of the communities it operates in. These programs provide students with practical skills and job security, which can lead to long-term career growth. Additionally, the inclusion of programs like Girls Can Too! promotes diversity and encourages more women to pursue careers in manufacturing, which is traditionally male-dominated. This approach can inspire other companies to adopt similar strategies, potentially leading to a more skilled and diverse workforce in the industry.
