Amazon.com, Inc. and Wiwynn are expanding Wiwynn's advanced manufacturing facility in Socorro, Texas. This expansion is projected to create nearly 1,000 additional jobs by the end of 2027, with Wiwynn's total
investment in the facility expected to exceed $1.6 billion and employment eventually reaching approximately 4,000 workers. The facility is crucial for manufacturing and integrating server systems and racks that are used in Amazon's data center infrastructure. Amazon is aggressively expanding its AI infrastructure due to strong demand for Amazon Web Services (AWS), with CEO Andy Jassy stating that the company currently lacks sufficient computing capacity to meet customer needs. This expansion directly addresses a bottleneck in acquiring specialized server and rack infrastructure, which is essential for converting Amazon's AI and data-center investments into usable AWS capacity.
