What's Happening?
A collaborative initiative led by Iowa State University, in partnership with other educational institutions in Iowa and Nebraska, has been awarded a $15 million grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to advance biomanufacturing innovations. The
project, known as RuralSTAMINA, aims to develop new products through biomass conversion and biomanufacturing, focusing on pharmaceuticals, animal vaccines, pesticides, nutraceuticals, and coatings. This initiative is part of a broader effort to support rural communities by fostering economic growth and job creation through advanced manufacturing. The project involves over 70 public and private organizations, including the University of Iowa, Des Moines Area Community College, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
