What's Happening?
Mammoth Freighters, a Texas-based company, is set to open a Boeing 777 passenger-to-freighter conversion line in Qingdao, China. This initiative is in partnership with Taikoo (Shandong) Aircraft Engineering (STAECO), marking Mammoth's first conversion facility
in the Asia-Pacific region. The first conversion line is scheduled to open in September at Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, utilizing a two-bay widebody hangar. The initial aircraft, a Boeing 777-200LR owned by Jetran, will enter conversion in the fall, with a second line planned for early 2027. STAECO, a joint venture with HAECO and other partners, already performs Boeing 737-800 conversions.
