Roche has entered into an agreement with Simcere Zaiming, a subsidiary of China's Simcere Pharma, to acquire exclusive global rights for SIM0660, a trispecific antibody. The deal involves an upfront payment
of $75 million, with potential future milestone payments that could increase the total value to $1.53 billion. SIM0660 is currently in preclinical development and is designed to treat B-cell-mediated autoimmune disorders and blood cancers. The antibody targets CD79a, CD19, and CD3, utilizing Simcere Zaiming's T-cell engager (TCE) polyspecific antibody technology platform. This platform aims to generate molecules with a low-affinity/high-targeting activation CD3 engagement arm, which is intended to trigger robust T-cell cytotoxicity against pathological cells while minimizing systemic side effects like cytokine release syndrome (CRS). Simcere Zaiming is also eligible to receive tiered royalties on net sales if the product reaches the market.
