What's Happening?
Capricorn Metals has announced a 33% increase in its group ore reserve estimate, now totaling 5.24 million ounces of gold. This growth is supported by upgrades at the Karlawinda Gold Project in the Pilbara region and the Mt Gibson Gold Project in the Murchison
region of Western Australia. At Karlawinda, ore reserves increased by 32% to 1.57 million ounces, with a post-expansion processing capacity set to support an annual production rate of about 150,000 ounces. The Mt Gibson project saw a 21% increase in open pit reserves and introduced a maiden underground ore reserve, bringing total reserves to 3.67 million ounces. The updated Prefeasibility Study for Mt Gibson outlines a 19.25-year mine life with significant production and financial forecasts.
Why It's Important?
The increase in gold reserves positions Capricorn Metals as a significant player in the gold mining industry, with long-term production capabilities and financial stability. The expansion of reserves at both Karlawinda and Mt Gibson supports extended mine life and increased production capacity, which is crucial for meeting global gold demand. The financial projections, including substantial revenue and cash flow, highlight the economic potential of these projects. This development is likely to attract investment and enhance Capricorn Metals' market position, contributing to the economic growth of the regions involved.
What's Next?
Capricorn Metals plans to commence site development activities for the Mt Gibson project in the second quarter of FY27, having already secured federal environmental permits. The company aims to achieve a gold production profile of over 400,000 ounces per annum within 2.5 years of starting operations at Mt Gibson. This strategic growth plan is expected to solidify Capricorn's standing in the gold mining sector and drive further economic benefits.
