What's Happening?
Dasha Ware, founder and CEO of RSG Agency, is building an extensive empire focused on empowering young people in the music business through education and marketing. Since establishing RSG Agency in 2012, which specializes in music marketing, artist development,
and label services, Ware has expanded her vision with Music Business Kids of America Inc. (MBKA). MBKA aims to provide young people and their families with foundational knowledge about the music industry through books, mentorship, and curriculum. This initiative is driven by Ware's personal commitment as a single mother to her three sons, aiming to build a legacy that offers stability, choices, and knowledge that can be passed down through generations. Her work with RSG Agency includes marketing credits for artists like Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj, and brands such as Reebok and Rap Snacks, demonstrating her expertise in connecting music with consumer culture.
Why It's Important?
Dasha Ware's initiatives are crucial for addressing the knowledge gap faced by aspiring young artists and their families in the complex music industry. By providing accessible education through MBKA, she empowers the next generation to understand ownership, income generation, and responsibilities within the industry before critical decisions are made. This proactive approach helps young creators develop confidence, make informed choices, and protect their work, fostering a more equitable and knowledgeable future for the music business. Her dual role with RSG Agency and MBKA creates a comprehensive ecosystem where professional knowledge is not only applied to advance established careers but also shared to prepare future talent. This model has the potential to democratize access to industry insights, moving beyond traditional gatekeepers and established relationships.
What's Next?
Dasha Ware plans to further expand MBKA's educational reach through an 'Industry Series' of twelve books for ages nine through eighteen, with titles like 'Industry Mindset,' 'Industry Ready,' and 'Industry Power' already published or planned. Additionally, MBKA offers a twelve-week 'Young Creators Academy' for ages twelve through eighteen, covering songwriting, studio knowledge, branding, marketing, ownership, distribution, and monetization. A ten-episode documentary series following Ware's development of MBKA is also in production, with distribution planned through LOOKHU TV, accessible on platforms like Samsung TV, Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV. These initiatives aim to broaden the reach of her educational mission, providing resources to families across different communities and inspiring young people to recognize their abilities and pursue careers in the music industry.
Beyond the Headlines
Dasha Ware's work extends beyond business and education; it embodies a profound ethical and cultural commitment to empowering future generations. Her motivation, rooted in her role as a mother, transforms professional ambition into a public contribution, ensuring that her learned experiences benefit a wider community. By focusing on early education in the music business, she challenges the traditional narrative where young talent often enters the industry without adequate knowledge, making them vulnerable. This approach fosters a sense of self-worth and agency among young creators, enabling them to shape their own futures rather than being dictated by external forces. The emphasis on 'Music Business Kids of America Inc.' highlights a national ambition to cultivate informed and prepared young creators, ultimately contributing to a more resilient and empowered creative class in the U.S.
