Buxton Resources, an Australian exploration company, has reported the discovery of high-grade copper and silver at its newly acquired Arivaca Project in Arizona, U.S. Rock chip samples from the site have shown copper concentrations up to 6.21% and silver up to 1,355
grams per tonne. The company secured 14.2 square kilometers of tenure within Arizona’s Laramide porphyry belt for approximately US$11,000 in pegging costs. The project is situated 30 kilometers southwest of Freeport-McMoRan’s Sierrita copper-molybdenum mining complex. Initial reconnaissance sampling yielded multiple high-grade results, with the best copper samples from historic mine dumps including 6.21% Cu, 3.55% Cu, and 1.10% Cu. Several samples also exceeded 400g/t Ag, and an in-situ rock chip returned 0.69% Cu and 84.3g/t Ag. Buxton CEO Marty Moloney highlighted that the project aligns with the company's strategy of acquiring 100% owned, low-cost opportunities with high-grade surface mineralization in underexplored settings within the proven Laramide porphyry belt.
