who wore light sensors and sleep trackers over 500 days. The findings indicate that individuals with more consistent and brighter daytime light exposure tend to fall asleep earlier, wake up earlier, and experience deeper sleep during the initial part of the night. Jennifer Martin, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist at Florida International University, explained that light impacts sleep by affecting the body's internal clock through the eyes. Morning light, in particular, helps maintain a consistent sleep-wake cycle.
