The University of Pittsburgh's volleyball team inaugurated the new Victory Heights Arena with a competitive Blue-Gold Scrimmage. The event marked the first public athletic event at the $240 million complex, which will serve as the main venue for volleyball,
wrestling, and gymnastics. Team Gold, led by Olivia Babcock and new setter Izzy Starck, won the scrimmage in five sets. The scrimmage showcased the team's potential, with head coach Dan Fisher expressing excitement about the squad's capabilities. The arena, replacing the 75-year-old Fitzgerald Field House, offers modern amenities and a seating capacity of 3,600. The event was attended by 2,341 fans, who experienced the new facility's vibrant atmosphere.
