What's Happening?
SeaWorld San Diego is set to debut a new haunted house attraction based on the 1997 horror film 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' as part of its Howl-O-Scream event this Halloween season. The attraction, titled 'I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final
Catch,' will also be launched simultaneously at SeaWorld Orlando and SeaWorld San Antonio. This marks the first time the film franchise has been adapted into a haunted house at a major Halloween event. The attraction will recreate scenes from the original movie, which follows a group of friends who are haunted by a masked killer after trying to cover up a deadly accident.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of this haunted house attraction is significant as it represents a novel way of engaging audiences with a classic horror film franchise. By transforming the film into an interactive experience, SeaWorld aims to attract horror enthusiasts and fans of the original movie, potentially boosting attendance at its Halloween events. This move also highlights the growing trend of theme parks leveraging popular media franchises to create immersive experiences, which can enhance visitor engagement and drive revenue. The adaptation of 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' into a haunted house could set a precedent for similar adaptations in the future, influencing how theme parks design their seasonal attractions.
