What's Happening?
Defense Maritime Solutions (DMS) is investing over $30 million to establish a new manufacturing operation for medium-speed marine combustion engines in Chesapeake, Virginia. This initiative aims to enhance domestic capacity for assembling, integrating,
and testing Wärtsilä engines used in ship propulsion and auxiliary power. The investment is expected to create 32 jobs and reduce reliance on overseas manufacturing for critical marine propulsion equipment. DMS's expansion aligns with efforts to strengthen U.S. maritime supply chains and support government fleets with reliable power systems.
