J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. made a surprise appearance at the Grand Ole Opry, joining John R. Miller for a performance. The duo played 'Steering Wheel Drums' from Miller's album 'The Great Unknowing'. This marked Mascis' first performance at the Opry, a venue
traditionally associated with country music. Despite his rock background, Mascis' influence is noted in the Americana and folk music scenes. Following the Opry performance, Mascis and Miller played an impromptu set at Vinyl Tap in East Nashville. Miller, a recipient of the John Prine Fellowship Award, is currently on tour, including a stop at AmericanaFest 2026.
