What's Happening?
Terrain Minerals has reported a maiden inferred mineral resource estimate for its Lightning Gold Project in Western Australia's Murchison Gold Region. The estimate includes 677,000 tonnes at 2.50 grams per tonne gold, totaling 54,000 ounces. This resource is divided
between open pit and underground mining, with 157,000 tonnes at 3.50g/t gold from open pit mining and 520,000 tonnes at 2.20g/t gold from underground mining. Additionally, the project includes 156,500 ounces of silver as a by-product. The resource was developed by Apex Geoscience and is contained within an optimized pit shell. Terrain Minerals plans to expand the resource through further drilling, as significant mineralization remains outside the current estimate. The project is part of Terrain's Smokebush Gold and Silver Project, located 350 kilometers north of Perth.
Why It's Important?
The announcement of a maiden resource estimate is a significant milestone for Terrain Minerals, providing a foundation for future growth and exploration. The Lightning Project's location in a region with active mining operations suggests potential synergies and opportunities for collaboration. The presence of both gold and silver resources enhances the project's economic viability. This development could attract further investment and interest in the region, potentially boosting local economies and employment. The company's plans to conduct additional drilling and metallurgical testing indicate a commitment to expanding and optimizing the resource, which could lead to increased production and profitability.
What's Next?
Terrain Minerals plans to commence a reverse circulation drilling program in September to further define and extend the existing resources. The company is also awaiting results from initial metallurgical test work, expected in the third quarter of 2026. These steps are crucial for determining the project's feasibility and potential expansion. Additionally, Terrain will evaluate the silver potential of the Monza structure, as historical drilling indicated multi-element mineralization. The outcomes of these activities will guide future development strategies and investment decisions.
