What's Happening?
Litera, a prominent legal AI platform provider, has announced the launch of Clean+, a cloud-hosted evolution of its Metadact Server. This new service aims to enhance metadata protection for law firms by removing hidden document data from outbound email
attachments across various Outlook environments. Clean+ is designed to operate without the need for additional IT infrastructure, as it is fully managed by Litera. The service is part of a broader consolidation under the Clean brand, which includes Clean Desktop, Clean Cloud, and Clean Server. Clean+ is available as a standalone package and is also included in Litera's AI drafting suite, Draft Advanced. The service is set to be generally available from June 30.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of Clean+ is significant for the legal industry as it addresses the growing risk associated with metadata in legal documents. As AI accelerates document creation, the volume of outbound documents increases, raising the potential for breaches of client confidentiality and legal ethics inquiries. By providing a robust, server-grade metadata protection solution, Litera helps law firms maintain trust and confidence in their communications. This development is crucial as it allows IT teams to focus on other priorities without the burden of managing additional infrastructure, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and security.
What's Next?
With the general availability of Clean+ scheduled for June 30, law firms currently using Metadact Server will receive dedicated migration support to transition to the new system. As firms adopt Clean+, it is expected that there will be a reduction in metadata-related risks, leading to improved client trust and compliance with legal standards. The broader adoption of such technologies could also prompt other legal tech providers to enhance their offerings, potentially leading to industry-wide improvements in document security.
