United Airlines has announced a new seating option for its Economy Plus class on the Airbus A321XLR aircraft, which will feature an open middle seat with a shared table. This new configuration is set to be available for bookings later this year and will be included
on all 50 of the A321XLR jets ordered from Airbus. The design aims to provide passengers with extra elbow room and a more comfortable flying experience. The new seating option builds on United's recent announcement of the United Relax Row, which will debut in early 2027 on Boeing 787 and 777 wide-body aircraft, offering seats that convert into a couch. The A321XLR will also feature 32 premium seats, including the United Polaris suite with all-aisle access, and will replace the Boeing 757s in United's fleet.
