What's Happening?
Knott’s Berry Farm is set to reopen the Montezooma’s Revenge roller coaster, now reimagined as Montezooma: The Forbidden Fortress, after a $20 million renovation. The historic coaster, originally built in 1978, has been transformed into a multi-launch
ride with an Aztec treasure hunter theme. The renovation includes a new coaster train, launch system, and track, while the station house remains the only original part. The ride features a forward launch through a loop and backward return, with new effects and a rethemed station.
Why It's Important?
The reopening of Montezooma’s Revenge as a modernized attraction highlights the importance of theme parks in preserving and updating classic rides to appeal to new generations. This renovation reflects a broader trend in the amusement park industry to blend nostalgia with innovation, ensuring that historic rides remain relevant and exciting for visitors. The investment in the coaster also underscores the economic significance of theme parks in attracting tourists and supporting local economies.
