Vale S.A., a leading Brazilian mining company, has inaugurated its first AI-driven 'Model Plant' at the Conceição 2 unit in Itabira, Minas Gerais. This facility represents a new operational model that leverages data intelligence, automation, and artificial
intelligence to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability in iron ore processing. The plant, with an annual capacity of 11.2 million tons, features over 7,300 automated instruments and more than 100 monitoring cameras and sensors. These systems track 400 variables in real-time, allowing for immediate adjustments to optimize processing and prevent unplanned shutdowns. The project, which took 1.5 years to complete, aims to create safer and more predictable mining environments.
