What's Happening?
Peregrine Gold has discovered auriferous paleo gravels extending up to 4 kilometers south of the Peninsula Prospect at its Newman Gold Project in Western Australia. This discovery has led the company to lodge a mining lease application covering 202 hectares
over the newly named Capricorn Prospect. Initial bulk sampling confirmed the presence of gold particles, with systematic geochemical sampling showing gold values ranging from below detection to 6,344 parts per billion in fine fractions. The gravels, which range from 43 to 185 meters wide, are composed of poorly sorted material within the flood plain of a main creek. Technical Director George Merhi highlighted the potential for significant near-surface gold mineralization, which could provide a low-cost pathway to early-stage gold extraction. The company plans to conduct further bulk sampling and trial dry processing techniques.
Why It's Important?
The discovery of gold-bearing gravels at the Newman Project could significantly impact Peregrine Gold's operations by providing a potentially low-cost method for early-stage gold extraction. This could enhance the company's production capabilities and financial performance. The use of dry blowing as a processing technique, which does not require water or reagents, could reduce operational costs and environmental impact. This development may also attract further investment and interest in the region's mining potential, potentially boosting local economies and employment opportunities. The identification of a new zone of mineralization underscores the ongoing potential for resource discovery in Western Australia, a key region for global gold production.
What's Next?
Peregrine Gold plans to receive the remaining geochemical results and undertake additional bulk sampling to further assess the gold potential of the newly discovered gravels. The company will also trial dry processing methods to evaluate their effectiveness in gold extraction. Additionally, Peregrine intends to prepare a mining development and closure proposal for small mining operations, pending necessary approvals. These steps are crucial for advancing the project towards production and realizing the economic benefits of the discovery. The company will continue to explore the potential for concealed bedrock sources of gold, which could further enhance the project's value.
