Saronic, a company known for its sea drones, has announced plans to build a $3 billion shipyard in Brownsville, Texas. The facility, named Port Alpha, will be capable of constructing vessels up to 850 feet in length, including both commercial and military
ships. This initiative aims to address the U.S. shipbuilding industry's capacity challenges, particularly in comparison to China's output. The shipyard will be situated on 835 acres, with potential expansion to 4,400 acres, and is expected to create up to 10,000 jobs, significantly impacting the local and state economy.
