What's Happening?
Bass Oil, an Australian company listed on the ASX, is set to resume drilling operations at the Bunian 6 development well in Indonesia. This follows the installation of a replacement mud pump, with performance testing completed on July 24. The drilling will
continue to an intermediate depth of approximately 1,440 meters before setting the casing, and then proceed to a total depth of about 1,820 meters. The Bunian 6 well targets the TRM3 sandstone reservoir and is expected to intersect additional reservoirs that have previously produced oil. The company anticipates initial production of 500 barrels of oil per day from the TRM3 reservoir, potentially increasing the field's total output from 250 to 750 barrels per day. Bass Oil holds a 55% interest in the Tangai-Sukananti KSO, with the remaining 45% held by Mega Adhyaksa Pratama Sukananti.
Why It's Important?
The resumption of drilling at Bunian 6 is significant for Bass Oil as it aims to substantially increase its oil production capacity. The expected increase in production from 250 to 750 barrels per day represents a significant boost to the company's output, enhancing its revenue potential. This development is also crucial for Indonesia's oil industry, as it contributes to the country's energy production capabilities. The successful drilling and production from Bunian 6 could set a precedent for further exploration and development in the region, potentially attracting more investment and technological advancements in the oil sector.
What's Next?
Bass Oil plans to complete the drilling, logging, and bring the Bunian 6 well online by late August. The company expects the drilling expenditure to be fully recoverable against existing production under the KSO terms. The success of this project could lead to further exploration and development activities in the region, potentially increasing the company's stake in the Indonesian oil market. Additionally, the performance of the Bunian 6 well will be closely monitored to inform future drilling strategies and investment decisions.
