What's Happening?
Assam Cos., a longstanding player in development and commercial real estate, is transitioning part of its business after 52 years. Founded by Fred Assam in 1974, the company is set to transfer its property management and commercial brokerage operations
to NAI Sioux Falls. Sam Assam, the current owner, will continue to oversee development projects on various parcels of land owned by the company in Sioux Falls. Gregg Brown, a partner at NAI Sioux Falls, will take over many of Assam's commercial listings. The transition includes the leasing of the Assam office at 530 S. Phillips Ave., which will be managed by NAI. The company’s portfolio includes significant land holdings, such as 120 acres at the interchange of interstates 29 and 90, and multiple parcels along Arrowhead Parkway.
Why It's Important?
This transition marks a significant shift in the commercial real estate landscape in Sioux Falls, potentially affecting local development dynamics. By partnering with NAI Sioux Falls, Assam Cos. is ensuring continuity in property management and brokerage services, which could stabilize the market and maintain investor confidence. The move also highlights the importance of strategic partnerships in real estate, as it allows Assam to focus on development while leveraging NAI's expertise in property management. This could lead to more efficient land use and potentially attract new businesses to the area, boosting local economic growth.
What's Next?
NAI Sioux Falls will assume property management responsibilities starting August 1, with plans to take over commercial leasing by September 1. This transition period will involve collaboration between Sam Assam and NAI to ensure a smooth handover. The focus will be on maintaining existing client relationships and exploring new development opportunities. Stakeholders, including local businesses and investors, will be watching closely to see how this partnership impacts the commercial real estate market in Sioux Falls.
