Idaho Strategic Resources (IDR) has announced significant exploration results at its Diamond Creek project in Idaho, revealing a high-concentration deposit of heavy rare earth elements, including yttrium. The exploration, conducted along a 3.2-kilometer
linear structure, identified a total rare earth oxide (TREO) grade averaging 1.8 percent, with heavy rare earth oxide (HREO) averaging over 2,000 ppm. This discovery is notable for its high concentration of yttrium, ranging from 800 to 2,000 ppm, which is crucial for manufacturing superconductors and special alloys. The project aims to reduce U.S. reliance on Chinese rare earth supplies, especially after China tightened its export licensing system in April 2025.
