What's Happening?
Agility training is gaining recognition as a crucial component of functional fitness, according to experts. Steve Stonehouse, a personal trainer and run coach, emphasizes the importance of agility in everyday movements, such as quickly changing direction
or sidestepping obstacles. Clif Marshall, senior director of coaching at D1 Training, suggests incorporating agility exercises into regular workout routines, recommending two sessions per week. Agility drills, such as the agility ladder, are highlighted as effective methods to improve dynamic stabilization and force production.
Why It's Important?
Agility training offers significant benefits for overall fitness and daily functionality. By enhancing the body's ability to move quickly and efficiently, individuals can improve their performance in sports and reduce the risk of injury in everyday activities. Incorporating agility exercises into fitness routines can lead to better coordination, balance, and reaction times, contributing to a more dynamic and adaptable physical condition. This approach to fitness aligns with the growing trend of functional training, which prioritizes exercises that mimic real-life movements.
