What's Happening?
Istituto Marangoni Paris has announced a significant partnership with the Dutch fashion house Viktor&Rolf for the 2026-2027 academic year. This collaboration is structured as an Industry Project, providing emerging designers with an immersive experience
in the strategic and conceptual realities of a major global luxury brand. The program requires students to engage deeply with Viktor&Rolf's conceptual and theatrical world, renowned for its landmark shows. Students will be tasked with designing a forward-looking vision for the brand's spring/summer 2028 women's ready-to-wear collection, including creating print and digital lookbooks and an innovative presentation format for Paris Fashion Week. The project will commence with a masterclass led by Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, followed by online sessions with the creative studio, culminating in a final presentation in Paris.
Why It's Important?
This partnership reflects a growing trend in fashion education to align closely with industry leaders, providing students with practical, real-world experience. By working directly with Viktor&Rolf, students gain invaluable insights into the creative and commercial aspects of a luxury brand, enhancing their career prospects. The collaboration also highlights the importance of innovation in fashion presentation formats, a critical area as the industry evolves. For Viktor&Rolf, this initiative helps cultivate new talent and potentially influences future collections with fresh perspectives. The project underscores the brand's commitment to blending artistic audacity with commercial viability, a model that has contributed to its global success.
What's Next?
The project will officially begin in November with a masterclass at the Paris campus. Throughout the course, students will participate in follow-up sessions with Viktor&Rolf's creative studio. The final presentation to the brand's executives will take place in Paris, offering students a platform to showcase their work. The winning student will secure an internship at Viktor&Rolf's headquarters in Amsterdam, while others may gain experience at the spring/summer 2027 showroom in Paris. This initiative is expected to strengthen the ties between Istituto Marangoni Paris and the fashion industry, potentially leading to more collaborations in the future.
Beyond the Headlines
This collaboration not only benefits students but also serves as a strategic move for Viktor&Rolf to maintain its innovative edge. By engaging with young designers, the brand can tap into new ideas and trends, ensuring its collections remain relevant and cutting-edge. The project also emphasizes the importance of sustainability and ethical practices in fashion, as students are encouraged to consider these aspects in their designs. This focus aligns with broader industry shifts towards more responsible fashion production and consumption.
