FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently met with Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne, Sports Minister Dwayne George Esquire, and Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) President Ickford Roberts to discuss the future of football
in the Caribbean nation. The discussions focused on youth development and infrastructure, supported by FIFA's Talent Development Scheme (TDS), FIFA Forward, and FIFA Arena programs. The TDS funds high-performance training for 32 elite boys and girls and supports the ABFA’s National Academy for ages 9 to 16. Additionally, the FIFA Football for Schools program, launched in 2023, aims to broaden the game's reach to more children. Infrastructure development is also a priority, with 13 FIFA Forward projects approved in Antigua and Barbuda since 2016, committing USD 15.4 million in funding. The ABFA is also moving forward with the FIFA Arena program to provide more playing opportunities for communities.
