What's Happening?
Kering, a leading luxury group, has partnered with eight Italian educational institutions to form a network aimed at modernizing traditional crafts. This initiative, based at the Campus Valore Italia - Mind Milano innovation district, seeks to integrate
technology, artificial intelligence, and new materials into the curriculum of traditional sectors like clothing, tailoring, leather goods, and jewelry. The collaboration involves organizations such as ACOF, AFOL, and Istituto Modartech, and is guided by the Kering Accademia per le eccellenze. The goal is to transform these crafts into dynamic, future-oriented professions by combining traditional skills with modern innovation.
Why It's Important?
This partnership represents a significant step in the evolution of traditional crafts, aligning them with contemporary technological advancements. By fostering innovation in these sectors, Kering is not only preserving cultural heritage but also ensuring its relevance in the modern economy. This initiative could set a precedent for other luxury brands, highlighting the importance of education and innovation in maintaining competitive advantage. The collaboration also underscores the role of educational institutions in bridging the gap between traditional skills and modern industry demands, potentially leading to new career opportunities and economic growth in the luxury sector.
