What's Happening?
Hertz Energy has successfully completed a high-resolution airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey over its Lake George Antimony-Tungsten-Gold Project in New Brunswick. Conducted by Novatem Airborne Geophysics, the survey covered 1,194 line-kilometers
over a 56.66 square kilometer area with a 50-meter line spacing. This survey utilized dual optically pumped magnetometers and a Very Low Frequency Electromagnetic receiver to gather data. The Lake George project encompasses five mineral claims surrounding the historic Lake George antimony mine, which was North America's largest primary antimony producer until 1996. The new geophysical data is expected to enhance geological interpretation by identifying key structures and features that may influence mineralization. Hertz Energy plans to use this data to guide its 2026 field program, which includes prospecting, mapping, soil geochemistry, and up to 3,000 meters of diamond drilling.
Why It's Important?
The completion of this survey is significant as it provides Hertz Energy with critical data to evaluate the exploration potential of the Lake George project. This is particularly important given the strategic importance of antimony, which is designated as a critical mineral in both Canada and the U.S. due to its applications in various industries, including electronics and defense. The survey's findings could lead to the discovery of new mineral deposits, potentially increasing the supply of antimony and reducing reliance on imports, especially from China, which imposed export restrictions on antimony in 2024. This development could have broader implications for the North American mining industry and contribute to the economic growth of the region.
What's Next?
Hertz Energy plans to proceed with its 2026 field program, leveraging the new geophysical data to identify and prioritize exploration targets. The program will include detailed prospecting, mapping, and soil geochemistry studies, followed by induced polarization surveying. Depending on the results, the company intends to conduct up to 3,000 meters of diamond drilling to further explore the project's potential. Additionally, the New Brunswick government has selected Avenir Minerals to explore and potentially restart the historic Lake George Antimony Mine, which could lead to renewed mining activities in the area.
