Rocket Lab has announced a significant expansion of its operations with a $266 million multi-launch contract with SSC. This agreement includes 12 suborbital launches, with an option for SSC to add six more. To facilitate these launches, Rocket Lab will
establish a new launch site at the Pacific Spaceport Complex-Alaska in Kodiak, marking its fourth launch location. The launches are expected to commence by the end of the year. This move is part of Rocket Lab's strategy to cater to the increasing demand for missile defense testing by the Department of Defense (DoD), especially in light of recent conflicts that have depleted U.S. missile reserves. Rocket Lab aims to position itself as a key partner for suborbital hypersonic test missions, having already secured a $190 million DoD contract for 20 hypersonic test flights earlier this year.
