What's Happening?
Redesign Health, a healthcare company-creation platform, has announced a definitive merger with ARC Global, the healthcare transformation engine established at Israel’s Sheba Medical Center. Concurrently, the newly combined entity has agreed to acquire
AVIA, a prominent U.S. health system digital transformation advisory network, pending final regulatory approvals. This strategic consolidation aims to create an integrated platform for developing, financing, validating, and scaling clinical AI tools and healthcare companies directly from hospital settings. The merged enterprise will encompass over 100 health systems across five continents, allowing these systems to retain equity ownership and financial benefits from the co-developed technologies. Dr. Stephen Klasko, former President and CEO of Jefferson Health, will chair the board, with Prof. Eyal Zimlichman, founder of ARC Global, serving as Vice Chairman. Brett Shaheen, CEO of Redesign Health, will lead the consolidated enterprise as CEO.
Why It's Important?
This merger and acquisition are significant for the U.S. healthcare industry as they address critical bottlenecks in healthcare innovation and technology adoption. By integrating clinical validation (ARC Global), technical engineering and capital (Redesign Health), and enterprise distribution (AVIA), the new entity aims to streamline the process of bringing new healthcare solutions to market. Health systems, often challenged by the cost and complexity of innovation, stand to gain by having a direct pathway to develop and implement AI-driven tools, with the added benefit of retaining equity. This model could accelerate the deployment of clinical AI, potentially improving patient care, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability for participating health systems. The involvement of a seasoned leadership team, including Dr. Stephen Klasko, signals a strong intent to bridge the gap between academic medicine, health system administration, and venture creation, fostering a more collaborative and impactful innovation ecosystem.
What's Next?
Following the final regulatory approvals for the acquisition of AVIA, the combined enterprise will focus on integrating its diverse capabilities. Redesign Health plans to embed technical pods directly within partner health systems, utilizing a proprietary healthcare AI operating system and knowledge graph to transform workflow improvements into enterprise-grade SaaS products and venture buyouts. The immediate goal is to leverage AVIA's network of over 90,000 health system executives to facilitate the rapid adoption of proven solutions across a wide array of healthcare providers. This integrated approach is expected to turn products validated in one hospital into turnkey software solutions for many, potentially setting a new standard for how healthcare innovation is developed and scaled within the U.S. and globally. The leadership team will likely prioritize establishing governance structures and operational synergies to maximize the impact of this new, comprehensive platform.
