IMG Academy, a renowned sports institution, is set to launch a club swimming program in the fall of 2027. This new program will become the 12th sport offered at the academy, which began 48 years ago as the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. The academy is known
for its highly competitive environment, with 70% of its Class of 2026 athletes going on to play their sport in college, significantly higher than the national average of 6%. John Hargis, an Olympic gold medalist and former collegiate swimmer, will serve as the Director of Swimming. Jason Bowes, with nearly two decades of experience as a head coach and director of operations for Tampa Bay Aquatics and Tampa Preparatory School Swim & Dive, has been hired as the new head coach. The program will feature a new state-of-the-art aquatic center with an outdoor 50-meter by 25-meter pool, expected to be completed in spring 2027. Swimmers will have access to comprehensive resources including strength and conditioning coaches, sports scientists, and nutritionists.
