What's Happening?
PureField Ingredients has completed a new CO2 capture facility integrated into its wheat processing and vital wheat gluten manufacturing operations. This facility captures and stores carbon dioxide generated during fermentation, with the capacity to store 150,000
metric tons of CO2 annually for 12 years. This initiative is equivalent to removing emissions from 32,000 vehicles per year. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted a permit for this project, marking a significant milestone for the Heartland states and the nation. The facility will undergo rigorous monitoring throughout the injection period and for 50 years afterward to ensure safety. U.S. Representative Tracey Mann highlighted the project's role in strengthening domestic production, enhancing American energy competitiveness globally, and supporting continued investment in rural Kansas.
