What's Happening?
Studio Bark has designed the Orchard House in rural Cheshire, a project that emphasizes sustainable living within a bucolic setting. The house, shortlisted for a 2026 RIBA North West Award, is constructed with locally sourced timber and features a Z-shaped
layout that integrates seamlessly with its natural surroundings. The design includes passive environmental strategies such as a Trombe core staircase for thermal regulation and a bespoke timber shutter system for managing sunlight exposure. The project also involves the restoration of the surrounding orchard, enhancing biodiversity and ecological balance.
