that this effect is due to increased activity in the frontal lobe, which is associated with deep sleep. This heightened alertness is believed to be an evolutionary adaptation, keeping the brain vigilant in unfamiliar settings. The effect is more pronounced in children, adolescents, and older adults, while those in their 20s are least affected. Anna Wick, a senior sleep researcher, suggests that this response fades after the first night. Factors such as anxiety, travel, and environmental changes can exacerbate the effect, but general sleep hygiene practices can help mitigate it.
