Gilead Sciences has inaugurated a new 182,000 square-foot research center at its headquarters in Foster City, California. This five-story facility is designed to enhance the biopharmaceutical company's capacity for developing medicines to treat complex
diseases. The center will focus on strengthening Gilead’s research in inflammation, oncology, and data science, housing approximately 325 employees, including 260 laboratory scientists. It features adaptable laboratories, collaborative workspaces, and shared technology platforms. The official opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by company executives, employees, U.S. Representative Kevin Mullin of California’s 15th Congressional District, and California State Assembly member Diane Papan. This new center is part of Gilead’s broader $32 billion investment in the U.S., aimed at expanding its research, development, and manufacturing infrastructure through 2030. Gilead currently employs around 11,000 people across the U.S., with over 7,400 in California and approximately 4,700 in the Bay Area.
