The Malta facility specializes in producing semiconductor technologies vital for high-performance and security-critical applications. McEwan brings over 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, encompassing manufacturing, engineering, and global operations. His previous experience includes leading global operations strategy and sustainability at NXP Semiconductors, where he also supervised the construction of a new 300mm joint venture fab in Singapore. He has also held leadership positions at Freescale Semiconductor. McEwan is taking over from Hui Peng Koh, who will now focus on GlobalFoundries’ quantum technology roadmap and growth strategy. The New York site manufactures semiconductors for various sectors, including automotive, aerospace and defense, data centers, and smart mobile devices, contributing to GlobalFoundries' U.S. manufacturing base and supporting its Quantum Technology Solutions initiative launched in 2026.
