What's Happening?
The Arcadia Dunes: The C.S. Mott Nature Preserve is hosting its annual Dune Wildflower Hike at the Old Baldy Trailhead. This event, led by volunteer Paula Dreeszen, offers participants a 2.5-mile hike featuring a gradual elevation change and a steep climb
to Old Baldy, a popular perched dune with panoramic views of Lake Michigan. Hikers will have the opportunity to see a variety of native dune plants, including Wood Lily, Pitcher’s Thistle, Sand Coreopsis, Hairy Puccoon, and Common Milkweed, which is crucial for monarch caterpillars. Participants are advised to wear sturdy shoes and bring essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray. Registration is required, and any cancellations due to weather will be communicated to registered participants.
