La bichota is back — and she’s going in for the kill. Karol G just released her unapologetic new song “Matadora” as she kicked off the Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour in Chicago.
The star first teased the track on Thursday night with a colorful video captioned,
“1 million comments and I’ll release it tomorrow during the show.” It seems that goal was reached. In the clip, Karol wears full-glam and an oversized white hoodie, her dancers alongside her in matching get-ups. “Those little eyes, what is it baby? Don’t look at me like that,” Karol’s voice-over says in Spanish before a beat drops and blue-lights flash as they all begin dancing, flashing neon pink bikinis that read off key words from the song’s lyrics.
“Matadora” comes after months of speculation that Karol was about to enter a new era following 2025’s Tropicoqueta album. When the star announced her tour in April, after initially teasing it during her historic headlining Coachella set, she seemed to be hinting at something with her tour promotion. “If you think you’ve already seen it all, remember that La Bichota always surprises you,” Karol said at the time, leaning heavily into the same color blue from the “Matadora” teaser clip.
In a recent interview with Vogue’s “The Run-Through” podcast, Karol revealed that she has been spending time in the studio as she prepared for her global trek. “Summer has been looking like rehearsals and creating at the same time,” she said. “I’ve been so inspired doing music since November,” she added.
It’s one hell of a way to celebrate her historic tour. With 39 dates at stadiums across cities in North America, South America, and Europe, Karol will become the first Latina artist to headline stadiums in Europe as part of a global tour, cementing her reach. “I’m waiting for people to see what we pull out together,” she said in the same interview. “It’s amazing.”
